9″ mechanical backing plate for trailer brakes
- 1x 9″ mechanical brake backing plate for trailer (LHS or RHS).
- Suitable for: Trailers, caravans and horse floats with 9″ drums.
- Capacity per pair is 1400kg per pair.
- Replacement backing plate for all trailers with same mounting pattern.
The main reason that mechanical backing plates need to be replaced is when the handbrake mechanism is left on. This causes the brake shoes to burn-out. We have the brake shoes to rebuild the backing plate, but it is easier to just replace the full backing plate. We also have the handbrake mechanism.
If the brakes get extremely hot, you may need to replace the wheel bearings as well.
