10″ hydraulic Backing Plate for trailer
- 1x (10″ x 2-1/4″) hydraulic backing plate (LHS or RHS).
- Suitable for: Trailers, caravans and horse floats with 10″ drums.
- Capacity per pair is 1600kg per pair.
- Replacement backing plate for all trailers with same mounting pattern.
The main reason that hydraulic backing plates need to be replaced is when the master cylinder seizes up. This causes the wheel cylinder in the backing plate to stay open which in turn, burns the brake shoes out. We have the brake shoes and wheel cylinder to rebuild the backing plate, but it is easier to just replace the full backing plate. We also have the master cylinder.
If the brakes get extremely hot, you may need to replace the wheel bearings as well.
